Virgin Islands Track and Field and Cross Country Team member Michelle Smith, a Junior at Montverde Academy High School, competed in the Florida High School State Championships in Tallahassee, FL on November 5, 2022. Smith was the first finisher for Montverde and placed 22nd out of 230 athletes in the State with a seasonal best time of 19:23 in the 5K race. Smith helped Montverde Academy to a 15th place finish in the State Team standing.
Michelle Smith will now prepare for her Indoor Track and Field season.
The Virgin Islands National Cross Country Championship for the U14 1 Mile Race, U20 2 Mile Race and Open 5K Race will be held on November 12, 2022 at 7:00 am at Estate Negro Bay, St. Croix. Athletes from the St. Thomas/St. John district will travel to St. Croix to compete for the Championship Title.
