Eduardo Garcia
The Virgin Islands Track & Field Federation announces that Eduardo Garcia will represent the Virgin Islands at the World Athletics Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Oregon. The Championships are held from July 15th to the 24th. Eduardo will be competing for the Virgin Islands in the Marathon, which is 26.2 Miles, on Sunday July 17th at 6:15 am.
Eduardo Is the current top marathon runner in the Caribbean and has re-written the Virgin Islands national long-distance track, cross-country and road running records from the 5000 meters to the marathon.
Eduardo Garcia has had high achievements as a student athlete at the NCAA Division I National Track and Field Championships for the University of Florida in the Southeastern Conference. One of Garcia’s notable accomplishments include being the first Virgin Islands cross-country runner to advance to the NCAA Division I National Championships. Garcia follows in the footsteps of V.I. national team member Billy Bohlke, who was a star at LSU. Garcia is also the first Virgin Islands runner to run under 2:20 for the marathon.
